Paul McGeechan is an artist and researcher investigating the relationship of music and technology.  Paul’s expertise is based on his practice as a widely pubished writer / composer, engineer, producer and as a music technologist. Paul’s creative practice output includes many published albums and high-profile performances.

Paul’s research expertise resides primarily in the following areas:

Current research activities.

Paul’s current practice-based research continues with new works in the area of electroacoustic composition and a large scale curated collaborative music project culminating in the release of an ambitious collection of music.

This work will be collection of songs / compositions, a combination of new works and new interpretations of traditional Scottish Gaelic song. The music will be augmented by the manipulation of field recordings, electronic sound textures and orchestration. Investigating how music technology can be used to negotiate the juxtaposition of the individual collected elements and as a form communication between the artists and performers in a virtual recording environment.

Paul’s composition of ambient drone music “iRresolute” was presented at CCA Glasgow and Tokyo Metropolitan University as part of the Azimuth project in 2016.
