Current research activities

  • Analysis of audio signals for continuous monitoring of respiratory patients using smartphones
  • Automatic detection, recognition and identification of small objects in thermal imaging
  • Flood monitoring and prevention using hyperspectral imaging and UAVs

Desired research direction

My research pursues solving different problems using applied signal or image processing and machine learning.  Apart from pushing the boundaries of those disciplines, I have always worked on the applied side to achieve tangible products at upper technology readiness levels. This has helped to secure industry funding from industry (e.g., Thales UK) and to develop further studies using the developed technology in the biomedical engineering area. I am currently focused on the development use of smartphones and UAVs for different applications, including healthcare monitoring, prevention of natural disasters, and environmental awareness.

Electronics industry, healthcare technology companies, NHS and government institutions.
