Dr N. Amaeze graduated from Department of Microbiology University of Nigeria Nsukka with honours in 1999. She went on teach for some time before obtaining her PhD in 2021 from University of the West of Scotland. Her area of specialisation is healthcare associated infections and infection control, Amaeze is trained microbiologist with a vast experience in theoretical and practical biological principles and processes with area of research focused on infection control and microbial ecology. She has worked in collaboration with academia, healthcare, and industry sections in facilitation of solutions for infection control. During the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, Amaeze has worked in collaboration with companies such as Elytraa, Dentsply Serona, Ecoanalytes, Insite Specialist Services and Tensarc in the testing of new antimicrobials agents and surfaces. She has 15 publications in peer reviewed journals spanning microbial ecology, infection control, food microbiology and public health.
Research Overview
She is interested in understanding the role environment plays in microbial persistence and virulence.
Her research (Journal of Hospital Infection, 106, (1), 2020) influenced the decontamination protocol used in the NHS for whole room disinfection.
She is actively involved in the investigation of biocidal activity of hydrogen peroxide on biofilms
