Civil Engineer with a measure of social conscience, often in a concrete lab, creating or building something and investigating behaviour with all its complexity. I strongly believe in multiskilling, total construction service companies and in socially balanced free-trade economy (new Keynesian economics).
In research, I'm particularly interested in cementitious materials and their deterioration on one hand, digital technologies in the built envirionent, and the complexity of human behaviour in organisations with fundamentals in Luhmann's theory of social systems and Maturana's and Varela's Autopoietic theory on the other.
Research expertise include: concrete technology, digital construction (including BIM), construction management and project management
Built Asset Lifecycle Intelligence (BALI; Innovate UK funded project with WLC Ltd)
Built Environment Resilience Digitisation (BERD; collaboration with 68 partners from 28 countries)
Structural optimisation of concrete using novel materials (PhD research; Director of Studies)
Companies with direct interest in built asset intelligence (digital construction, whole life digitisation) and digital resilience (energy operators and distributors, disaster management companies)
Organisations with direct interest in digital construction (e.g. building information modelling) and disaster resilience (disaster preparedness and response), disaster resilience digitisation and concrete technology (optimisation of concrete, deterioration of concrete)
optimisation of concrete and cementitious materials (KTP, consultancy)
project management methodologies (training)
Health & Safety in construction (training, KTP)
Autodesk Revit (training)
