Overview
Research Interests:
Mhairi has a keen interest in socio-legal issues surrounding women's rights, disability rights, access to justice and welfare rights.
In particular Mhairi is interested socio-legal problems that impact menstrual health and women's mental health, specifically disorders such as Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder.
Mhairi is an active member of the UWS Women's Health Research Network.
Mhairi and her colleagues won funding to to explore how people with PMDD seek support from the UK welfare benefits system (funded by the Royal Society of Edinburgh).
Mhairi has contributed her expertise to help develop the UK’s first research agenda for PMDD (funded by Research England).

Outside of Women's mental health:
Mhairi is an Advisory Group member of the Independent Review of Adult Disability Payment commissioned by the Scottish Government. The advisory group consists of 10 members who have been convened to provide guidance, expertise, and scrutiny to the Chair to ensure the effectiveness, fairness, and integrity of the review.
The group will provide advice on the approach, methodology, engagement mechanisms and plans adopted by the review when conducting stakeholder engagement, as well as facilitating access to a wide range of audiences. Please see here for more information and up to date publications of the review.

Current teaching activities and interests
Mhairi is lecturer on the BA in Law programme, leading the Consumers and the Law module, Contemporary Issues in Law 1 Module and the Tribunal Skills module. In addition to this, Mhairi has taught over a variety of Civil Law Modules such as:
