Area of academic expertise - outline

Masood is a Lecturer in Tourism and Events Management at School of Business and Creative Industries, University of the West of Scotland (UK). He specialises in policy, planning, and marketing aspects of tourism studies. He has published widely in highly regarded tourism journals and is the author of several works focusing on tourism policy, planning and development. He is currently supervising a number of PhD/DBA research projects at UWS. Masood is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Fellow of the British Institute of Persian Studies. He has over a decade of work experience in the hospitality and tourism industry and has worked for companies such as Gleneagles, Hilton and the G1 Group.

Current research activities

Masood is currently working on two collaborative research project focusing on

  1.  Communication in Futures Studies
  2. Farm tourism as a driving force for socioeconomic development

Target collaborative organisations

I am interested in collaborating with Destination Tourism Organisations as well as other public and private sector organisation enagged in tourism policy, planning and development.

I am also interested in collaborative research projects with colleagues from other national and international institutions working on similar research areas. 

 

Other areas of expertise available for knowledge exchange

In addition to my research activities, I have experience of developing and delivering Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Recognised Teacher of the University (RTU) training.
