Research activity per year
Masood is a Lecturer in Tourism and Events Management at School of Business and Creative Industries, University of the West of Scotland (UK). He specialises in policy, planning, and marketing aspects of tourism studies. He has published widely in highly regarded tourism journals and is the author of several works focusing on tourism policy, planning and development. Masood is currently the Associate Editor of the Ecotourism Section of the Journal of Frontiers in Sustinable Tourism.
Masood is the Associate Lead (Output) for UWS’s UoA24 REF 2028 submission. In this role, Masood supports the UOA Lead with the design and management of the peer-review process within the UOA and leads on coordinating the selection and preparation of research outputs. He contributes to helping staff succeed and develop research outputs and support the open access agenda at UWS
Masood is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Fellow of the British Institute of Persian Studies. He has over a decade of work experience in the hospitality and tourism industry and has worked for companies such as Gleneagles, Hilton and the G1 Group.
Masood is currently working on two collaborative research project focusing on
International Tourism Organisations: Public/Private specialing in heritage tourism, tourism marketing, destination branding, destination development.
I am interested in collaborating with Destination Tourism Organisations as well as other public and private sector organisation enagged in tourism policy, planning and development.
I am also interested in collaborative research projects with colleagues from other national and international institutions working on similar research areas.
In addition to my research activities, I have experience of developing and delivering Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Recognised Teacher of the University (RTU) training.
