Personal profile

Overview

I am the Programme Leader for the Post-graduate Certificate Child Protection within the School of Health Nursing and Midwifery. I am a registered Social Worker, having obtained my CQSW at the University of Bristol in 1983, and have twenty five years social work practice experience in local authority settings, initially working in England and, from 1990 onwards, in Scotland. Key areas of expertise have been in adoption and fostering and, most recently, in child protection practice. I joined the University of the West of Scotland in 2006 as a part-time Lecturer / Practitioner to assist in the development of the newly established PgC Child Protection programme and became a full-time Lecturer in 2008.
