Personal profile

Area of academic expertise - outline

I am an adult, paediatric and health visitor trained nurse. My primary area of interest is within the field of advanced practice and paediatrics, although family health and health visiting services are also of interest to me.My main work over recent years has focused on child health services. My extensive academic work, clinical practice and external child health representation has given me a well-rounded and grounded approach to developing child health services giving children and their families the best start in life.

Current research activities

I am currently writing up my porfessional doctorate thesis which is based on the advanced paediatric nurse practitioner role - from service users and service providers viewpoints. I am using a hermeneutic approach for this study.

I am also an active supervisor for students writing up their MSc dissertations.

I am the programme lead for the MSc Maternal and Child Health (Advanced paediatric and Advanced neonatal programmes) at UWS, and i am the programme lead designate for the MSc Advanced Clinical Practitioner (neonatal, child, adult) programme which is being validated in March 2017.
