Personal profile

Overview

My primary research area of interest is the design of high performance robotics systems. Since 1996, I have been designing advanced robots and their components for various applications such as material handling, high speed milling, solar tracking, palettizing, recongirurable robots, stair climbing platforms, etc.

Overview

My second area of interest is related to robot designs whereby I am investigating modelling, solving, simulation of the complex robotics systems allowing to examine and eventually ceritify tasks as path planning and path pursuit. This constitutes a global and complete approach in robot controls with the various levels including CAD/CAM which can drive their programming.

Current research activities

Supervising two PhD students on the topics of path planning, task ceritification and sense-and-avoid of small civil unmanned aerial vehicles. This project is done jointly with professor Siu O'Young of Memorial University.

Current research activities

Supervising one PhD student on the topic of design, modelling and control of a ship running from hydrogen with fuel cells whereby the fuel is produced from sea water through fuel cell based electrolysis powered by wind mills and solar panels. This project is done jointly with professor Tariq Iqbal of Memorial University of Newfoundland (St-John's, NL, Canada).
