Personal profile
Overview
I joined UWS as a Professor of Discursive Psychology in 2023 in the School of Education and Social Sciences. My research explores relations of power, identity and oppression of marginalised individuals and communities, with a focus on discourse and communication.
Alongside my interests in pure research, I undertake applied research to address issues of social inequality, poverty and injustice. A main focus of my applied work is in the social housing sector where I use applied psychology methods to help housing organisations develop evidence-based improvements for tenant engagement and communication.
I also have an enduring interest in HE leadership and working to dismantle gendered, classed, and racialised structures within academia in the pursuit of more inclusive cultures where difference and diversity is sought out because of the unique affordances that it creates.
