Area of academic expertise - outline

I graduated and qualified as a registered nurse in 1998.  My clinical background includes working in plastics and maxillo-facial, intensive care, tissue viability and practice development as a Practice Education Facilitator.  I gained my post-graduate diploma in teaching in 2013 when I joined the University of the West of Scotland as a Teaching Fellow.  I completed my Masters programme with distinction in 2016, with my dissertation focusing on student nurses’ experience of mentorship in clinical practice.

I teach into both the pre-registration nursing programme and post-registration mentorship programme at the University of the West of Scotland.

Current research activities

Currently exploring the use of emotional touchpoints.

Desired research direction

Plan to further explore the findings of my Masters research study.
