Overview

Kellie Burns is a registered mental health nurse and a lectuer in Mental Health Nursing at the School of Health and Life Sciences at the University of West of Scotland. With a strong commitment to advancing mental health education and care practice and a focus on dementia services. 

Kellie is activly engaged as a fellow of the Alzheimer Scotland Centre for Policy and Practice, contributing to the centres practice projects, educational and academic inititives. 

Kellie possesses extensive experince and skills within demetia care, with previous clinical practice encompassing inpatient nursing, care home liaison services and both operational and clinical responsibilities for the day to day managment of memory assesment services within an older adult community mental health team as part of the NHS. 

Her focus is on creating supportive, person centred theraputic services for patients and families. Kellies holistic approach is intigral to her teaching and research, aiming to offer accessible teaching that  is impactful for learners.

She is planning to commence her PhD studies in 2026.
