Dr Jordan Donnelly is a lecturer in Sport Development in the Division of Sport & Exercise. Both Jordan’s teaching and research interests are housed in the areas of socio-economic inequalities, trauma and sport. His PhD examined and explored the journeys and practices of coaches and their participants in Scottish Sport-for-Development programmes and ultimately the impact of that these relationships and experiences have on their lives. In terms of teaching and learning, Jordan contributes broadly to the areas of sport sociology, sport development and to specific coaching contexts such as coach transformational leadership and coach-created motivational climates.
Currently, Jordan works with several Sport-for-Development programmes across Western Europe to understand and maximise their potential impacts of socio-economically disadvantaged populations.
Prior to joining UWS in 2022, Jordan held a position with the Scottish Legal Aid Board and Scottish Government as a Research Officer in Policy and Development.
Jordan would like to continue his work exploring the role of sport as a panacea to societal issues including poverty, trauma exposure, and inequalities.
