Joanna Olszewska BSc(Hons) MSc(EPFL) PhD(UCL) CEng CSci FBCS FHEA is a British computer scientist. She is a lecturer (Asst. Prof.) with UWS, UK, and leads research in Algorithms and Softwares for Trustworthy Intelligent Vision Systems.

Senior Member of IEEE, she stands on the IEEE Artificial Intelligence Standard Committee, she is part of the IEEE Global Initiative for Ethical Considerations in Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems, and she is Chair of the IEEE Technical Committee on Verification of Autonomous Systems. She has given talks, e.g., at conferences such as ICRA, at events such as the Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) Anniversary Meeting, at ENS Paris, etc. She has delivered webinars at IEEE and BCS, tutorials at conferences such as ICAART, and keynotes, e.g., at SBESC. She has been invited to be panel speaker at the University of Edinburgh Union Debate on 'The Future of AI', to give invited talks, e.g., at the ACM Sacramento Future Worlds, and at Industry forums such as DDD Scotland, as well as podcasts and interviews, e.g., for the BBC Lunch Time 'Women in Engineering' Program. She has been TPC member of over 100 international conferences such as IJCAI and has chaired over 70 conference/workshop sessions, e.g., at IROS. She has served as Technical Program Chair of the IEEE International Conference on Engineering Reliable Autonomous Systems (ERAS). She has been appointed Guest Editor for the Knowledge Engineering Review Journal, Cambridge University Press, and Associate Editor for the Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence Journal, the Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence Journal, and the Machine Learning with Applications Journal, Elsevier. She has contributed to 20+ ISO/IEC/IEEE standards in various roles, e.g. Vice-Chair of ISO/IEC/IEEE P41062, and she is an author of 150+ peer-reviewed publications and one book.

She holds several awards, e.g., ESWA Outstanding Reviewer Award, and distinctions, e.g., ACM Distinguished Speaker. She has received grants as PI, e.g. StandICT.eu Fellowship, and she has been supervisor for 70 BSc(Hons)/MSc/PhD students, including the supervision of the Best BSc Thesis awarded by the GCHQ Prize and the supervision of the Best MSc Dissertation awarded by the AGD Prize.
