Overview

A time served agricultural engineer with extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of health and safety management gained within various sectors including consultancy, education, the Ministry of Defence, construction, the voluntary sector and as an approved instructor with the Agricultural Training Board. As a University employee involved in all aspects of health, safety and environmental consultancy, training and lecturing. Worked with Health and Safety Services to produce and review policies and procedures.

Academic – Programme Leader for the Safety, Health and Environment programmes. The role includes promoting the BSc Hons programmes locally, nationally and internationally.  Manage external lecturers; act as a personal tutor for all the BSc OSH and BSc Environmental Health students. Produce lecture materials, lecturing, setting examination questions, marking examination papers. In additional act as an external examiner for the MSc programme at Strathclyde University.

 

Consultant / Knowledge Transfer - Health and safety advice to clients, implement Health and Safety Management Systems to HSG65 and OHSAS 18001.  Co-ordinate health and safety projects, site visits, conduct safety audits and health and safety training.  Environmental management advice to clients, implementation of Environmental Management Systems that complies with the requirements of ISO 14001/EMAS, conducting Environmental Audits and Environmental Awareness Training.  The promotion of sustainability through waste minimisation auditing and training for SME’s. Preparing applications for IPC/PPC and Waste Management Licences for clients, providing advice on the reuse of waste products and final disposal of materials.
