Overview
I have a wealth of clinical experience working in acute medicine, high dependancy, coronary care and intensive care nursing. Prior to coming into nurse education I worked as a research nurse looking at patient outcomes following carotid endarterectomy surgery and developed the first nurse led clinic in Glasgow supporting patients with lower limb peripheral vascular disease.
I have expereience of teaching in pre-registration nurse education from Level 7-9 and I am also involved in supervising students working at Masters level.
I have experieince of co-ordinating and moderating a number of modules and have acted in the role of year lead for third year students
Area of academic expertise - outline
My main area of research interest is looking at student succcess in higher education in particular, looking at how mature students and those who enter from a widening participantion route perform in nurse education.
