Personal profile
Overview
I am a Lecturer in MPA program at the London campus of the University of the West of Scotland in the United Kingdom. I am interested in interdisciplinary research and often collaborate with scholars from management, marketing, sociology and political science disciplines. I explore issues pertaining to public administration and governance, the interactions of public, private and third sectors and implications those create for citizens and civil society. I am particularly interested in researching various aspects of non-profit, faith based and immigrant organizations and their relationship to citizenship, participation and civil society. I have worked in the USA, United Arab Emirates and Turkey in various capacities as researcher, lecturer, administrator and in public sector service. I obtained my Ph.D. from the Cleveland State University, Maxine Goodman College of Urban Affairs and my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Area of academic expertise - outline
My research has focused on the impact of post nine eleven policies in the USA on Islamic non-profit organizations. Further studying the third sector, I have also investigated the challenges female NGO managers in Turkey face and how non-profit organizations can contribute to the branding of a place utilizing the theory of planned behaviour. Relevant to my work at the Investment Support and Promotion Agency in Turkey, I have assessed their practices in the New Public Management paradigm. Some of my interdisciplinary research includes explorations of HRM issues in Turkey and HRM technology acceptance, and work life balance issues.
