Overview
Donna Maguire is a lecturer in Mental Health Nursing and Programme Lead for the Personality Disorder programme, within the School of Health & Life Sciences, University of the West of Scotland. She brings extensive clinical experience across a range of settings, including addictions and forensic mental health.
Donna has a particular interest in trauma-informed care, personality disorders, and community forensic mental health which underpins her teaching and professional practice.
Current research activities
Donna is currently a part-time PhD student, undertaking research that explores, the systems, processes, and pathways within the community forensic mental health services across Scotland.
Other areas of expertise available for knowledge exchange
Donna is a Registered Mental Health Nurse with over 24 years of extensive clinical experience across a range of mental health settings. Her practice has spanned acute admissions, community addiction services, and home detoxification, with a particular focus on dual diagnosis.
She has also worked within community forensic mental health services, where she progressed into a leadership role, contributing to the development and delivery of specialist care for individuals with complex needs.
