Personal profile

Area of academic expertise - outline

I'm interested in all aspects of creative writing in its widest sense (including academic writing). My practice continues to consist mostly of prose but I've also written screenplays, drama and poetry. I'm interested in interdisciplinary crossovers with art, music, health, and sociology.

As well as research interests in the Gothic, the First World War, dementia studies and psychogeography, I'm involved with community literary events in and around Paisley and the international promotion of Scottish literature.

My first novel was awarded a PhD: my second and third are in preparation. I was awarded a Robert Louis Stevenson Fellowship in November 2017,
