Experience in clinical practice includes; Registered Nurse in the acute hospital setting (surgical and high dependency); Specialist Community Public Health Nurse - Health Visitor (includes a specialist role working with refugees and families seeking asylum); Practice Development for Health Visiting and more recently in a senior role as Programme Manager for 'Leading Better Care'.  Role as programme manager provided the opportunity to work jointly with NHS Lanarkshire and University of the West of Scotland.  This involved the development of innovative work packages with accompanying research activities and outputs. Currently a Lecturer in Health Visiting and keen to develop skills in innovative teaching, learning, assessment and research.

Area of academic expertise - outline

Research interests include; leadership in nursing and midwifery; cultural competence within health visiting practice; and improving wellbeing and outcomes for children. Current research experience includes leadership development in nursing and values and competency based recruitment.
