Personal profile

Area of academic expertise - outline

My current research focus is the Scottish labour market, particularly decent work and access to work.  My wider research interests include:  employability, third sector, volunteering, entrepreneurship, social enterprise, and careers guidance.

Prior to my PhD study, I worked for Volunteer Scotland as a Research and Development Officer, where I undertook evaluation and research projects on volunteering and its impact on wider Government policy agendas, including Health, Education and Employment.

Post PhD, I worked as a Evaluation and Research Executive for Skills Development Scotland, where I undertook evaluation of Careers Services in Schools, and rolled a successful programme of digital customer feedback in Careers Centres across Scotland.

Current research activities

I am involved in research projects focusing on third sector entrepreneurship, decent work and employablity.

I currently supervise Doctoral study on topics including: decent work, employee engagement, and change management.

Desired research direction

My desired research direction is to develop further research on work in Scotland, particularly around the quality of work and access to work.
