Area of academic expertise - outline

My background is predominantly acute nursing care, but my research interests are in Nursing education and Internationalisation.

Current research activities

I am currently involved with a study exploring the experiences of patients in the community with indwelling urethral catheters. This has been a collaboration between UWS, QNIS and West Dunbartonshire Health and Social care. WE are currently awaiting publication of findings and preliminary findings have been presented at an International conference I Slovenia.

Desired research direction

As part of my Professional Doctorate studies, I am keen to explore the implementation of Kuracloud into the pre-registration nursing program. This type of innovative learning which is based around virtual simulation has been implemented recently and I aim to carry out a quantitative study to assess students ability in problem-solving and clinical skills decision making since it was introduced.
