UWS is hosting a Creative Renfrewshire Network (CRN) masterclass at its Paisley Campus on Wednesday 20 September 2017, 10am -1pm.
CRN, which is a networking group representing all arts and culture throughout Renfrewshire, is dedicated to celebrating and building on the rich cultural resources of Renfrewshire – past, present and future – with a forward-looking local, national and international outlook.
Culture plays a hugely important role in building places both socially and economically and this event is part of the Network’s drive to review, refresh and revitalise itself to maximise the positive impact it has on culture in Renfrewshire.
Supported with funding from 2021, the CRN committee and members recently undertook visits to other cultural networks in cities in Scotland and across the UK to find out what works and what might be learnt.
This masterclass is a unique opportunity for CRN members to share learning from these recent visits and exchange knowledge on best practice. It is also a chance to review the current structure, the aspirations and discuss what resourcing and support will be required to deliver on those aspirations.
The event will be chaired and facilitated by Liz Gardiner, who is doctoral student of the University’s School of Media, Culture and Society and also a Committee Member of CRN. Professor Katarzyna Kosmala, Graham Jeffery and Margaret Scott of UWS and Andrew Leitch of Creative Scotland will all deliver presentations at the event.
Commenting on the event Professor Katarzyna Kosmala said: ‘We are delighted to be working closely with the Network in sharing best practice on cultural planning and regeneration locally, nationally and internationally.“
