Following the re-election of President Paul Kagame in rwanda in August 2017 there was a mixed response from the international community. Noticeable however amongst several of the negative articles was a fixation on issues that ignored the context of the country of Rwanda, still very much in a period of post-genocide recovery and necessary sensitive public policy. This article gives an opinion from the Global North that takes the appropriate context into account.
