International media and the fight against genocide denial: A view from the global north

Description

As Kwibuka 25 (the commemoration of 25 years since the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda) began, a number of media outlets either not known for publishing new relating to Rwanda, or having published questionable work in the past began publishing articles to mark the occasion. It became apparant quickly that there is still a significant problem with misinformation and intentionally biased authoring of public knowledge relating to the facts related to the 1994 genocide, its origins, and its aftermath. This article highlights some of the most problematic examples.
