We hosted a one-day student orientation event titled “Why Should You Come and Study at UWS? Your Pathway from Wuxi to Scotland,” which registered the participation of more than 60 attendees, including 52 students from the Scotland Academy Wuxi. The primary goal of this event was to encourage more students from the Scotland Academy Wuxi to complete their final year at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS).Held onsite at the Wuxi Scotland Academy, the event was designed to support students as they consider and prepare for their transition to UWS. It offered a valuable opportunity for attendees to meet UWS program leaders, explore UWS academic pathways, and gain a clearer understanding of what studying in Scotland entails. Students were able to ask questions and gather information about the programs and opportunities available to them at UWS.
Additionally, the event provided an excellent chance for students to connect with alumni who had successfully made the same journey from Wuxi to Scotland. These alumni shared personal testimonials, offering insights into both the challenges and the transformative benefits of studying at UWS. Their stories helped address common concerns and provided real-life examples of academic achievement, personal growth, and career development, reassuring students about their potential journey.
This initiative represents a targeted, cost-effective approach to strengthening our international partnership and enhancing student recruitment for UWS.
Overall, based on the feedback we received, the event was highly appreciated by the majority of participants.
