Description

'Tracks of the Past' was a pilot project that used a place-based educational style to explore local heritage at a high school in the West of Scotland. The project involved working with S1 pupils to explore the 1987 occupation of the Caterpillar factory in Tannochside/Uddingston, Lanarkshire; the facts of the event, the recollections of their families, and the implications the events had for industry in suburban Scottish towns. This event will involve presentations and a panel discussion about the project, including debates about the benefits of a place-responsive approach and how it can be used within the classroom.
