The three Tayside Citizens Advice Bureaux (CAB), Angus, Perth and Dundee, will be combining forces to hold a social policy conference on 31st August 2018. The conference will get delegates thinking about the changing nature of employment and how to deal with these changes within the context of social policy work.

Topics will include employment rights post Brexit, universal basic income, the gig economy, wellbeing at work, employee ownership, automation and ways of working in the creative industries.

Speakers and workshop facilitators to be confirmed so far include: Professor Abigail Marks - Centre for Research on Health & Wellbeing at Heriot Watt University Dr Vanesa Fuertes - Lecturer in Politics at University of the West of Scotland Linda Hutton - Research Manager at Citizens Advice Scotland Ken Naismith - CEO of Employee Owned Company CAS LTD Ian Watson - Employment Law Consultant Better than Zero - Campaigning organisation against precarious work Mandy McEwan - Co-ordinator of the Fife pilot on Universal Basic Income More workshop speakers TBC. The speakers and workshops will encourage delegates to consider the various pressures on the ‘standard’ work model and increasing uncertainty over its future; the potential impact on individuals engaged in new systems of working and what the future might hold for our society.
