    Description

A television drama-documentary was proposed by the university in partnership with G71 Productions in a Knowledge Transfer Partnership, based on a collection of letters, medals and certificates obtained from the descendants of Margriet Ballegeer, a World War One Belgian spy for the British, and on the book 'Spying in World War 1' (Osprey, 2013) by Janet Dean, Ballegeer's grand-daughter. Using these sources, which included translating and transcribing original documents from the original Flemish, a complete time-line of the story was produced. From this, the proposed director Eleanor Yule (formerly a doctoral student at UWS) composed a complete treatment, while a budget for the whole production was drawn up. The project was cancelled due to a rights issue.
