Progressive Futures for Social Security, Fair Work, and Employment Support in Scotland

Activity: Participating in or organising an eventParticipation in workshop, seminar, course

    Description

This workshop will explore progressive alternatives for the use of established and newly devolved powers for Scottish policymakers in the workplace, employment and social security policies. It will evaluate the distinctiveness of the ‘Scottish Approach’, identify elements of both diversion and continuity with the UK’s liberal welfare state model, and propose policy priorities for a more equal and inclusive Scotland. Three keynote sessions will explore radically progressive, yet pragmatic future visions for policy and governance. Each keynote session will bring together two leading academics with a leader from Scotland’s civil society. Each session will offer evidence-based lessons for policy on ‘what should be done’ to promote a more equal and inclusive Scotland.
