Description

Dr Butcher and colleagues from Glasgow Dental Hospital designed and delivered Meet The Expert sessions at Glasgow Science Centre. Information and activities surrounding the microbes colonising the oral cavity and the immune response that helps to prevent them from causing disease. Participants were invited to construct communities of microbes, known as biofilms, using play-doh and petri dishes. A large model representing the oral biofilm was also demonstrated, and stickers showing cartoon representations of immune cells were given to children and adults alike.
