Key Considerations in Redesigning an MEd Programme to Include the Lived Experiences of Culturally Diverse International Students

Activity: Talk or presentationOral presentation

Description

The University of the West of Scotland’s School of Education & Social Sciences offers a full-time MEd Education Studies degree at the London campus, with specialisms in Inclusion, Leadership, and Early Years Pedagogy. Serving a diverse global cohort from East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Africa, the programme has been redesigned to better address the unique needs of its international students. It integrates intercultural perspectives and social justice principles, ensuring that diverse experiences are reflected in teaching, learning, and research. Authentic assessments, more engaging seminars, and an alternative to the traditional dissertation will enable students to propose innovative teaching practices. Partnerships with social justice organisations in London will offer students opportunities to connect with local communities and engage in meaningful research projects.
