Description

Professor Kosmala is co-convener of a panel session at conference, which is being held in Quito, Ecuador from 17-20 October 2016. The session, Ports in Transition: Imagining Alternative Futures, is being held on 17 October and will also mark the launch of an international research network under the same themes. In addition to Professor Kosmala, the panel will feature contributions from Dr Nicholas Anastasopoulos of the National Technical University of Athens; Akejandro Meitin of the art and environmental organisation, Ala Plastica, Argentina; Roman Sebastyanski of UWS; Oliver Lerone Schultz, Co-Chair of Transmediale 2016 and Associate of the Global Ports Authority; Dr Fereniki Vatavali of the National Technical University of Athens; and Geheimagentur, an art collective from Hamburg, Germany. Habitat III is the first United Nations global summit after the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals. It offers a unique opportunity to discuss the important challenge of how cities, towns, and villages are planned and managed in order to fulfill their role as drivers of sustainable development, and hence shape the implementation of new global development and climate change goals.
