University of the West of Scotland students from Adult and Mental Health Nursing and Songwriting and Commercial Music courses worked collaboratively with each other, and with people living with dementia and their carers. Dementia awareness training was planned and delivered by nursing students for commercial music and songwriting students, with all students engaging with the consent and ethics procedures. Based on subsequent conversations at Alzheimer Scotland Kilmarnock Resource Centre, seven new songs inspired by real-life experiences of people living with dementia have been created.
