Dr Michael Pugh, lecturer in political history at UWS, has researched and written about the history of the former burgh of Govan. In this series of three talks, Michael traces the rise and fall of the burgh, alongside key themes in its social and political life. These include the burghs’ connections to the shipyards, to nearby Partick, and to its love-hate relationship with Glasgow – the city which ultimately absorbed it in 1912.
