    Description

    Alicia, Ronnie and Roderick managed an interactive display showcasing some of the parasitology research being carried out at UWS. The first activity used cakes, sprinkles and icing to demonstrate the relationship between use of contact lenses, improper hygiene practices and the development of Acanthamoeba infections in the eye. A second activity allowed participants to create 'edible cells' using sweets to emulate cellular organelles and other structures.
    Participants also had the opportunity to observe live parasitic cells in culture using microscopes.
