Overview: Narrative inquiry is an old practice that feels new. Its contribution to the human sciences has developed over the 20th-century into a rich tapestry of perspectives and practices adopted by positivists, realists, constructionists, and non-foundationalists, alike, using both quantitative and qualitative methods. These diverse positions are held together by the single point of constancy that, individually and socially, human lives are lived and shaped by stories.
This two-hour workshop will provide you with a taste of narrative inquiry. Following a brief introduction to narrative theory, you will be invited to revisit your own work through a narrative lens, and in collaboration with your colleagues, reframe your research questions, methods, and analyses into forms of narrative inquiry. Come and see how narrative inquiry can take your research into new and interesting directions.
