The main public lecture for the Arran Geofest, run by the new Arran Geopark and the Lochranza Centre, Isle of Arran. Arran is a hotspot for those interested in Scottish geology and the place where generations of student geologists cut their teeth in the field. This presentation explores the geology of Arran and unpicks the evidence for Arran's journey from near the South Pole northwards to the rainy temperate zone where we find it today, imagining the varied environments and spectacular events that Arran experienced along the way.
