    Description

Invited presentation: Rethinking Disposability: Compound 13 Lab

Graham Jeffery, University of the West of Scotland
    Ben Parry, Bath Spa University

Resources of Hope is an AHRC Global Challenges Research Fund follow-on grant for impact and engagement, based on work undertaken as part of Remaking Society (Connected Communities 2012 – 2014). In India, working with ACORN Foundation, who are well known for their work in participatory music and hip hop education, Ben Parry and Graham Jeffery have established a ‘anti-lab’ in the 13th Compound, Mumbai’s main recycling centre. How is the lab attempting to challenge the ‘biopolitics of disposability’ and equip young people in Dharavi to participate in making sustainable 21st century futures?
