3rd Sustainability Multidisciplinary Meet-up

Activity: Participating in or organising an eventParticipation in conference

Description

As a co-applicant and organiser, I contributed to securing £2,450 in British Academy funding for the 3rd Sustainability Multidisciplinary Meet-up, an annual national event that brings together early career researchers (ECRs) from across the SHAPE (Social Sciences, Humanities and the Arts for People and the Economy) disciplines to network, share research, build interdisciplinary collaborations, and exchange ideas on addressing critical sustainability and decarbonisation challenges.

The event provides a platform for researchers to explore how SHAPE disciplines can contribute to a just and sustainable transition, with a particular emphasis on reducing inequalities, delivering social and environmental co-benefits, engaging communities through effective climate communication, and leveraging digital technologies, big data, and artificial intelligence to support decarbonisation at scale. By fostering interdisciplinary dialogue across fields including sociology, psychology, architecture, art and design, health and wellbeing, business, law, marketing, and finance, the meet-up strengthens the role of SHAPE research in advancing Net Zero solutions.

The successful British Academy funding application was led by Dr Jing Zhao (University of Bristol), with co-applicants Liliana Fonseca (University of Strathclyde), Alessia Vacca (University of Lincoln), Ievgeniia Kopytsia (University of Oxford), Mamoona Arshad (De Montfort University), Bridget Menyeh (Robert Gordon University), and myself.
