Area of research expertise - Outline

Stephen is an experienced practitioner and lecturer in theatrical performance with speciality subjects in musical theatre, technical theatre and musical direction.

He is an experienced composer of choral, orchestral and musical theatre repertoires with CD publications on the electric honey label of Wallace the musical and Sheherezade the Musical.

He has written the following musicals:

Wallace - RSAMD - 2000

Sheherezade - RSAMD - 2002, 2003, 2004

Faeries - East Kilbride Theatre, Gilmorehill Theatre - 2005 - Scottish tour - 2006 - Edinburgh Festival - 2007

The Green Door - Ayr Gaiety Theatre - 2015

Current research activities.

Currently in the final stages of presenting his PhD thesis concerning the use of The Golden Ratio in musical theatre composition.

2016 - received funding to study the efects of relaxed performances upon people with learning difficulties with dementia

Investigating future PhD placements for research into musical therapy
