Area of research expertise - Outline

My current research is in the sociology of dementia.  I am particularly interested in the ways in which dementia impacts upon subjectivity, self identify and social citizenship.

Current research activities.

I am currently developing a critical posthumanist approach to 'animal assistance' in dementia, drawing on empirical data from the evaluation of Alzheimer Scotland's Dementia Dogs pilot initiative (2013-2016).

I recently completed (with Prof David McGillivray) an evaluation of the Scottish Council for Voluntary Sector Organisations (SCVO)'s One Digital Scotland programme, funded by Big Lottery.

Desired research direction.

I am looking to develop research into the lived experience of 'animal assistance' interventions in dementia.

I am also looking to develop research into digital participation and digital exclusion in dementia.
