A reflection on the turn towards 'impact' in research assessment, and on both the personal and institutional evolution of research and impact engagement at UWS in recent decades. In the process highlighting the new context at UWS in the most recent period, and the new opportunities it creates for 'accelerated' research and impact trajectories for the new generation of early (and earlier) career researchers at UWS.
